eBay Making Me Grit My Teeth

I have been going back & forth with this seller and…OK, would someone please explain her way of thinking to me? I am just not getting it. I don’t think I would be getting a better price because, in the end, I would still have to pay nearly $30 for shipping!!

I love how the seller sneaks in the s/h and pads it with other stuff so you miss the fact that she is wringing you on the “REAL” price. Check it out:

Stunning

Natural Amethyst 16″ Pendant Necklace

Pendant is 47×32x7 on a .925 sterling silver bail.  Comes on a 16″ sterling silver snake chain.

S&H to the USA or Canada is 26.99

(save 3.49 s&h with every other necklace you purchase and ship together!)

Here I am being a crotchety old woman, but I don’t care. I am SICK of sellers on eBay jacking up their s/h prices just to get a little extra $$ off the deal. eBay had started to crack down on people like this, but it’s still happening. Anyway, I spotted this beautiful necklace on eBay and sent a message to the seller via eBay and asked why the s/h on this item was so high. Click on this image to see a full screen shot:

Dear seller,

A small package from Canada to where I live would, at most, cost about $15.

Dear bidder,

Hi. Thank you for your interest in my necklaces. I listed this necklace at .99 + 26.99 because this is the least “OVERALL” price that I would accept for it regardless of the actual shipping cost. By listing my auctions like this I am able to save my customers the extra 4 to 5 dollars in “over head”. It is a beautiful necklace, you will love it! Thanks again for your inquiry.

I’m confused. So, $26.99 is the minimum you want for the necklace?

This necklace would cost you 27.98 “overall” (if your the only bidder) and if you wanted to purchase any others with it you would save 3.49 s&h on each additional necklace you ship together. Hope that helps. Thanks.

I understand now, and I think I will pass because what you are doing is highly misleading. I see that you already have one buyer who was upset your s/h practices. If you want to make a minimum on an item, you should start out with a REAL minimum bidding amount and don’t mislead with the high shipping. You aren’t supposed to PROFIT from the shipping. I would have entered a bid if the minimum asking amount was $15 because it is a beautiful piece. Oh, well. Good luck with everything.

Hi. Sorry I don’t mean to be misleading, I state the s&h price right in the description so there is no misunderstanding. By listing my items the way your talking about, my price would go up 4 to 5 dollars to cover all the fees. I figured I would give my customers a better price this way. I do get alot of questions about this and in the future I might reconsider my “way of listing”, but like I said this way you get a better price. Thanks anyways for your question, have a great day.
